Jean Genet: Olympia Press Ebooks

Two classics from Jean Genet:

Our Lady of the Flowers
The Thief's journal

$1.00 each

At that price, there's no excuse for not being well read.

Lesbian Pulp from Olympia Press

Various people are making lesbian pulp classics from the 50's available as ebooks -- but the best price is still the Olympia Reprints for $1.00 each

Titles include Ann Bannon:
I Am A Woman
Odd Girl Out
Women In The Shadows
Beebo Brinker
Journey To A Woman

Plus the Laura & Jack spin off, The Marriage, described as :

"Easily the strangest novel Ann Bannon ever did. Page and Sunny were young, in love and married. Sunny found life blissful with her husband; Page saw his career as a writer in NY begin to take off. A baby was on the way. The pair agreed that life together, with someone so appealing, was as good as it could be.

"Then word came down that Page, who'd been adopted, was born Roger, older brother of Sunny. Laura and Jack, the gay couple from Bannon's Brinker series, introduce this tale, at times playing key roles for the younger couple dealing with adult incest in a manner far more realistic than either of the two novels from Kathryn Harrison..."

But wait! There's more!

Other authors:

Vin Packer's Spring Fire
Valerie Taylor's The Girls in 3B
Tereska Torres' Women's Barracks

Plus! An Extra Bonus Book!
Valerie Solanas' SCUM Manifesto (I love that book)

10 books for $10.00. Hard to beat that.

The Amazons: Book 4

Fictionwise is now listing the conclusion of Susanna Valent's 4 part The Amazons

The Amazons Book 4: Peril on the Sea - A Tale of Sapphic Daring is available for $3.40 ($2.89 - Buywise)

"Synopsis From the Publisher:

"THE QUEER LEFT BEHIND CONCLUDES!

"Fundamentalists and conservatives of all stripes have joined to turn the United States into the New Republican Nation in the very near future. Having voted themselves into power, they proceed to pass restrictive and repressive legislation so that soon the situation in the NRN parallels that of Afghanistan under the Taliban. Women have once again been barred from the work force and government schooling brainwashes girls to expect to grow up to be wives and mothers. Lesbian Coast Guard captain, Kris Nordstrom, escapes to California aboard her cruiser, where, with her two like-minded lovers, Andrea Santiago, a marine engineer, and Nicole Gervais, an astronomer, she gathers together many other women who can't tolerate the oppression of the New Republican Nation. Now, with the NRN putting pressure on California, Kris and her friends have found a ship big enough to get them all away to Europe and freedom. But things are crumbling faster than they realize, and with the obstacles in their way, they may not be able to flee before the NRN places an embargo on all out going ships, trapping them under its control for ever. Love, lust, politics, helicopter rescues and a shootout highlight the concluding volume of this extraordinary quartet of prophetic novels."

For this volume, the cover art features leather bikinis. 'Nuff said.

Truman by David McCullough for $7.59

An Unfinished Life (JFK) by Robert Dallek for $7.89

You can also pick up Cornwell's oddly unsatisfying Blow Fly; Asimov's I Robot (you'll wonder what the Will Smith movie had to do with the book); and Richard Condon's The Manchurian Candidate (don't you long for the good old days, when the dangerous lunatics weren't already running the government?)

Appointed Limits Keep [The Amazons #3]

The indecipherably named third installment of Susanna Valent's four part The Amazons is now available at Fictionwise.

This somewhat sexy, somewhat political, somewhat trashy distopian series about a fundie take over of the US is ever more depressingly apropos.

Here's the publisher's blurb:

"The Sapphic "Left Behind" Grows More Intense! It is the very near future. Fundamentalist among all U.S. religions have combined to vote racists, homophobes, and women-haters into government. Soon women see abortions outlawed, themselves driven out of the office place and legislated back into kitchens. For queers, Blacks, and Latinos, the situation is even more perilous, with gay-bashings and lynching back in style. Those who can have trekked west to California, the lone liberal holdout. Among them, former Naval officer Kris Nordstrom, who has been forced to resign her commission by the new government, her lover Andrea, Kris's sister, Susanne, and her lesbian niece, Alix. In volume III of this epic quartet of novels, the foursome have sailed to San Francisco, where they become certain they are being shadowed by private detectives hired by Susanne's estranged husband and Alix 's father, who has joined the fundamentalists and wants "his women" back under "his control." As Kris and Andrea work to establish a network of helping agencies who will assist women and others on the run, in Dayton, Alix's friends Danielle and Carole find out that their parents have signed them up for matrimony camp to indoctrinate them with the idea of growing up to become obedient, nurturing wives and mothers and of being forcibly married within the year. The connections between these various groups of women and girls are strengthened as they begin to share their concerns and experiences via the internet. But as California is increasingly pressured to fall in line with the rest of the U.S., Kris and Andrea realize that their only hope of survival is to take their friends and family aboard their ship and seek haven elsewhere. If they can escape before California succumbs to the fundamentalists and before Susanna's husband can swoop down to kidnap her and Alix back to life as virtual slaves in Ohio."
