Young Ladies Wear One Thing...

From Rox Populi - the latest in the Kelli Davis saga:

"Last night, Clay County Superintendent David Owens upheld the decision to ban Kelli Davis' photo from her HS yearbook because she wore a tux instead of a swath of cloth that barely covered her chest.

"Clay County resident James Stewart offered his opinion on the matter to local reporters:

"Young ladies wear one thing and young men wear something else. If you choose not to do that, you're out of line"

CNN.com - CNN Commentary: 'Buster' and the lesbians - Feb 15, 2005

Buster makes it to CNN - she's very happy.

"Of course, no child watching this episode is any more likely to be brainwashed into becoming gay than into copying Buster and growing rabbit ears.

"The danger, such as it is, lies elsewhere. The episode's two couples -- Karen and Gillian, and their friends Tracy and Gina -- come across as perilously likable people and loving parents. They're awfully hard to distinguish from acceptable folks. It might be tricky, then, to convince a child who's "exposed to the lifestyles portrayed in this episode" that these women should be demonized for being who they are."

Golly gee willikers.

And just for the record, Buster does not have rabbit ears. The TV, however, has been sadly influenced by the 4th season rabid rabbit on Xena. It cancelled its subscription to cable and sprouted rabbit ears.

Buster, however, after a brief flirtation with rabbit ears, decided to keep her cute dog ears.

"Heard about those “gay penguins” at the zoo in Germany? The zoo keepers brought in some female penquins to try and 'straighten them out.' "

Cybook to Add eReader

From Teleread comes news that Cybook is going to offer an upgrade to its software that will add eReader to the e-book software list, as well as a reader that can display unencrypted PDF

That's good news for those of us who prefer eReader.

This dedicated ebook reader shows alot of promise - including a (reportedly) excellent, 10" color display. The downside? Price (an unbelievable $738.00) and OS (WinCE 3.0). At those prices, you might as well go the whole hog and buy a real computer

Buster Sends a Postcard from New York

(New York City) A New York State court ruled Friday that same-sex couples must be allowed to marry.

State Supreme Court Judge Doris Ling-Cohan said that the New York State Constitution guarantees basic freedoms to lesbian and gay people, and that those rights are violated when same-sex couples are not allowed to marry.

The ruling said the state Constitution requires same-sex couples to have equal access to marriage, and that the couples represented by Lambda Legal must be given marriage licenses.

"This is a historic ruling that delivers the state Constitution's promise of equality to all New Yorkers," said Susan Sommer, Supervising Attorney at Lambda Legal and the lead attorney on the case.

"The court recognized that unless gay people can marry, they are not being treated equally under the law. Same-sex couples need the protections and security marriage provides, and this ruling says they're entitled to get them the same way straight couples do."
