Free eBooks - Along Came a Spider by James Patterson
I thought this might be the first ebook promo where I never downloaded a single title. But, finally, today's ebook caught my eye.
I haven't exactly been dying to read Along Came A Spider, but at least it is worth the 2 seconds the download takes.
This has got to be the worst series of books eReader has ever offered!

A Jack Daniels Mystery
by J. A. Konrath
Lieutenant Jack Daniels is back, and this time she has to solve one of her goriest cases ever. Someone is running around Chicago dismembering women, and the spare body parts are winding up at the local morgue. In addition to the headaches of the job, she also has to deal with her mother showing up to live with her, as well as the reappearance of her ex–husband, right when she’d thought she was making progress in a relationship with a new boyfriend. Along with her binge–eating partner Herb, who's on a failing quest to find the perfect diet, we see Jack track down and convict one of the scariest serial killers in recent memory–but not before she becomes a target of his wrath, as well.
And it's just in time for Christmas! Ooo-eee

Next In The Long List...
...of books I don't want to read:
Today's free ebook from eReader:
MechWarrior Dark Age: Ghost War
A Battletech Novel
by Michael A. Stackpole
"One F.B.I. document indicates that agents in Indianapolis planned to conduct surveillance as part of a "Vegan Community Project." Another document talks of the Catholic Workers group's "semi-communistic ideology." A third indicates the bureau's interest in determining the location of a protest over llama fur planned by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals"
It's not illegal if the President says it's OK. At least, that's what I'm told.
You can find 1984 and other relevant writings by George Orwell here

My Rebel Belle
by Pamela Cummings
Eppie 2002 finalist—Best Historical Romance!…
My Rebel Belle captures the romance and heartbreak of the struggle between North and South during the Civil War. Staunch rebel Marabelle Talbot proudly supports the Confederacy. Boston aristocrat and Union Major Leander Cabot Brooks falls wounded on her doorstep, and Mara pitches into a whirlwind of emotions when her family nurses the Yankee back to health. Caught between the love of an enemy officer and duty to the rebel soldier she’s promised to, Marabelle struggles to keep her family plantation intact as Confederate and Union armies determine the fate of the nation.
As the war progresses, the Union officer, sent to defeat the South, proves loyal and true to Marabelle. Despite his hatred of the rebels who are trying to destroy his country, Lee Brooks is helpless to prevent the capture of his heart by the beautiful and fiesty Marabelle.
Can a rebel lady and a Yankee officer overcome their hatred for each other’s causes and unite in love as the war–torn country tries to reconstruct itself? Will they even survive the war? Only two very strong and determined lovers can surmount the obstacles keeping them apart.

War on Christmas Ornaments
Sadly, No presents a nice selection of War On Christmas ornaments, including my personal favorite, The Gay Creche.
""Wait," your dumb relatives will say, "Is that two Josephs in that creche -- or is it a couple of Marys?" This touching nativity scene is a tribute to marriage, and celebrates the miraculous birth of a Holiday religious figure to his earthly fathers. Larry and Joseph figures also sold separately. "

Latest Kay Scarpetta from Patricia Cornwell
eReader has the newest Scarpetta novel, Predator, for $21.83 with the Newsletter discount. This week's code is LILY
Here's the description:
Dr. Kay Scarpetta, now freelancing with the National Forensic Academy in Florida, takes charge of a case that stretches from steamy Florida to snowbound Boston, one as unnerving as any she has ever faced. The teasing psychological clues lead Scarpetta and her team–Pete Marino, Benton Wesley, and Lucy Farinelli–to suspect that they are hunting someone with a cunning and malevolent mind whose secrets have kept them in the shadows, until now. Predator is proof once again that Patricia Cornwell has few peers with her extraordinary ability to entertain and enthrall.
I swear I read this book already...
Presumably, it will also be available from Fictionwise on Monday -- one hopes, at a better price.
